"Conflict management is a high-frequency and high-criticality task for street cops. They always need simple, but effective, tools at their immediate disposal to manage conflict and protect themselves from harm and liability. The TCI conflict management system complements Dr. George Thompson's Verbal Judo and all use of force continuums I have studied. Street cops could benefit from training in the TCI conflict management system. The TCI Verbal Threats Model, in particular, has high-applicability and potential for helping street cops respond to violent crimes-in-progress with potentially violent offenders on-scene Remembering the simple acronym 'DIALS' helps the officer overcome the characteristic tunnel vision and sensory overload during stressful armed confrontations and prompts the officer's verbal communication during a tactical response. This system helps the officer say the right things that lead to peaceful arrests of violent crime offenders."
Detective Tom Coffey
Chicago Police Department
"I find that the TCI verbal conflict management model to be a great tool to use in order to de-escalate a bad situation. It offers a chance for choices to be made, allowing time for the antagonizer to look at the problem at hand and process it in his/her mind...This material did give me more insight in handling situations...not only in the criminal justice field, but in every area of our lives, even at home with our family. I have learned some very useful information. Thank you."
Linda Jaramillo
Social Services, Department of Family and Protective Services
Waco, Texas
"The practicality of Dr. Edelman's TCI Conflict Management System is readily apparent in the fact that a workplace will see greater productivity and employee satisfaction when the workers are getting along. We would like to think that as adults, we can work out our problems without the need for outside help, but that is not always the case. Having a proven and reliable system can help immensely to keep a smooth working relationship between workers and all levels of management or administration. Officers are often forced to handle situations of great conflict under extreme stress. Having even one more resource of resolving conflicts at their disposal will effectively help officers to do their job better without having to resort to more dangerous, and possibly lethal, solutions."
Laura Stumpp
Correctional Officer
Idaho Department of Corrections

Additional Nationwide Testimonials 1993-2004
“As a Deputy United States Marshal for the past 13 years, I sought out Dr. Edelman's expertise in applying for a Southern Florida-based supervisory promotion in May of 2000, which involves a highly competitive process including the preparation of hundreds of pages of essays, documentation, reports and the completion of a rigorous, mutiphase interview process involving complex conflict management scenarios. Prior to that date, I applied for a similar position and received an interview score of 22, considered a very good score by United States Marshals Service standards. According to federal personnel directors, each one-point increase above 22 was considered extremely difficult to attain. My goal was to improve my score one point above by consulting Dr. Edelman and Associates Inc.'s communication enhancement consulting services to bolster my interviewing and essay writing skills. After two months of weekly consultation, I felt confident that I could earn a score of 23 on the next series of promotional exams.
Several weeks after completing this assessment process, I received a call from one of the United States Marshals Service assistant directors in Washington, D.C. She asked what I had done to prepare for the promotional assessment battery. I asker her why. She stated that my score had increased from a 22 to a 27, one of the top scores in the nation. I not only received the promotion I applied for, but since that time, thanks to Dr. Edelman's services, my confidence and skill levels in interviewing, public speaking, and report writing have increased exponentially.
In addition, I would highly recommend Dr. Andrew J. Edelman & Associates, Inc. consulting services to all organizations seeking to improve their verbal conflict management proficiency, which I consider to be an organization’s first and most important tool in workplace violence prevention. Dr. Edelman’s tactical crisis intervention approach is based on the same proven, practical principles of human relations, psychology, and conflict resolution that we employ during high-risk hostage negotiation scenarios.
Given today’s turbulent social and economic climate, I would strongly urge every school system, government agency, and corporation in the United States interested in preventing violence, reducing liability, and building win-win relationships to obtain TCI conflict management certification, which I feel is one of the most innovative and effective training of its kind available.”
