Professor Folson is one of the twelve Lifetime Achievement Award winners of the Ministry of Education, Provincial Government of Lower Saxony/Germany 2003, for academic excellence and contribution to African, European and North American civil societies.

Her research, publications and teaching are focused in five areas: Global Economics(Restructuring), International Migration; Sociology of Education and Development in West Africa; Critical Sex Education as HIV/AIDS Prevention Strategy; The Impact of Race Purity Ideologies of the German Nazi and South African Apartheid Governments on National Policies; Human/Women’s Rights.

From 1992-2007 she was Professor at the following universities: Toronto, Bayreuth, Oldenburg, Frankfurt am Main, Zurich, Bremen and Innsbruck.


She was the director of the West African project funded by the Federal Ministry of International Development and Economic Co-operation, Germany (BMZ) and the Heinrich Boell Foundation(HBS), entitled:

            Socio-Economic Advancement of Women and Girls in Sarakunde, Gambia (1994)

She was the director of the West African project, entitled,

Global Economic Restructuring, Translocal Relations, Migration, Development Policies;

Critical Sex Education as HIV/AIDS Prevention Strategy (2002-2003)

{In collaboration with the University College of Education Winneba/Ghana and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)}

She has a strong track record for acquisition of research funds from major international institutions in Europe and North America.

She has presented her work at major international conferences and has published extensively.

She has excellent knowledge of English, German and Twi/Fanti and has a working knowledge of French.

She set up RBF CONSULTING and RESEARCH institute in Accra-Ghana in 2007.

  FSI-IRBT Global Conflict Management Initiatives for 2010 and Beyond

Dr. Edelman has recently partnered with a variety of South Florida organizations including the University of Phoenix South Florida Campus, College of Education to announce his updated conflict management system entitled Full Spectrum Intervention (FSI), the world's only conflict management model that deals with all five critical phases of escalated behavior. Co-founder of the Interactive Reality-Based Training (IRBT) system with renowned law enforcement training consultant Lt. Steve Sheridan, President of Florida-based Leadership and Training Research Institute, Inc.,   Dr. Edelman continues to expand these breakthrough conflict management and violence prevention programs for public, private and government sector organizations throughout the world.

Having served as a crisis intervention team leader, police officer, and defensive tactical consultant for numerous law enforcement and military agencies, Dr. Edelman brings over 25 years of real-world experience in the field of violence prevention by developing live simulation training-based programs for students, teachers, administrators, police officers, and parents that can dramatically reduce the probability of disruptive, assaultive or armed escalation.
